Identity Theft

Sunday, August 5th, 2007 @ 4:50 pm | English, Engrish, United States

So this next one is not exactly from Japan, but I thought it was too good to pass up.  This is from an Asian-American bank in Denver, Colorado (so it is Asia related).

In recent years, identity theft has become a major problem.  Hackers and thieves use other people’s personal information to steal their their money, ruin their credit, the list goes on.  The government has been trying to cut down on identity theft, but to no avail.  One party that gets mixed up in identity theft cases are usually banks; thieves either clean out their victim’s bank account or pretend to be from a bank in order to obtain private and personal information.  Banks do their best to try prevent this, as it can ruin their image and cost them thousands (if not millions) of dollars.  However, it seems that one bank here in the US has given up on fighting identity theft:

Just in case you missed it, here it is closer up:

Identity Theft - Close-up

This bank in Denver, CO, Premier Bank, seems to have decided that since identity theft is such a big business for hackers and thieves, they might as well get in on the action.  Either that, or the laziest hackers ever decided to try their hands at identity theft.  Either way, it is still up if you don’t believe me and want to take a look for yourself.  The link is http://premierbankusa.com .

If your checking account application was declined more than once, you are probably feeling very frustrated about your problem. In the end, not having the ability to get a new checking account may really put load in your financial life. And whilst it is almost impossible to get your name removed from their database, there is a workaround: you can look for a bank that does not apply ChexSystems at all. These banks are out there, if you know how to get them.
